Who
are we? Work at the University
of Minnesota led to the incorporation in 1988 of a service dog organization
in the Twin Cities of Minnesota, who have successfully trained and placed
over 100 service dogs. Several of our people have volunteered with that
organization and have a cumulative experience of more than 25 years in
training service dogs. These volunteers formed NorthEast Wisconsin Service
Dogs, Inc., a Wisconsin based non-profit organization, in February of
2005. North East Wisconsin Service Dogs, Inc. History Northeast Wisconsin Service Dogs was founded in February of 2005. To date there has been 10+ dogs successfully trained and placed with a recipient by NEWSD. It takes about 2 years to train a service dog. NEWSD trains purebred Golden and Labrador Retrievers;occasionally a Standard Poodle is placed in our service dog program. NEWSD volunteer instructors have a combined experience of over 30 years in service dog training. NorthEast Wisconsin Service Dogs, Inc. is a 501c3 non profit program that trains service dogs for people with disabilities other than hearing, seizure or sight impairment.
